As a result of the explosion of the bomb in the southwest of Colombia, 5 military were killed and 6 were injured.
According to national media reports, the bomb explosion was directed against the military who repaired the bridge in the city of Balboa in the Kauka department.
“We are deeply saddened by the attack on our military units on the road by Balbo-El-east. Violence continues to take lives and threaten the future Kauki,” wrote Governor Kauki Octavio Gusman on the social network x.
Before the attack, Columbia President Gustavo Petro said that the bridge, destroyed by former members of the revolutionary armed forces of Colombia (FARC), will be restored and that this is of great importance for the region’s economy.
The authorities have liable for the attack on Carlos Patino, a group related to the umbrella organization “Farc Estado Mayor Central (EMC)”.
EMC is also called the “General Staff” Farc.
The group is led by Nestor Gregorio Vera, known by the name “Ivan Mordisco.”
It is reported that the group never took part in a peace agreement between FARC and the Government.
According to the national press, EMC is financing at the expense of drugs, smuggling and extortion in Venezuela and Ecuador, as well as in Western, Central and Eastern Colombia.
The total number of members of the group has more than 3,500 people, 2180 of which are armed.
