Ashgabat Discussed Multifaceted Cooperation Of Turkmenistan With EU

The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov adopted the European Commissioner of the European Union for International Cooperation by Joseph Sicel. This was reported by the Turkmen state news agency “Turkmenistan Today” (TDH).

The European Commissioner emphasized that the European Union highly appreciates multifaceted cooperation with Turkmenistan following the path of economic reforms.

In turn, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the current visit of the European Commissioner to the country will create the opportunity to exchange opinions on the current state and promising areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union.

The President of the country emphasized the special significance of the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi, which can significantly reduce the route and time of large-sized cargo flows, as well as create favorable conditions for entering the Black Sea coast, Europe, the Middle East, Southern Asia and the Asian-Pacific region. In this regard, the confidence was expressed that the port would serve as a reliable bridge in the development of interaction and trade and economic ties between the countries of Eurasia. Of great importance is attached to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation not only on bilateral, but also a multilateral basis. A striking example of this is the relationship in the Central Asia -European Union format, ”he emphasized.

The President of Turkmenistan also indicated the favorable geographical location of the country, and therefore the expansion of transport and transit routes is of strategic importance. Turkmenistan is actively developing such promising transport corridors as the North-South and East-West, ”he said.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov also drew attention to the successful implementation of projects in the country with the European Union in the fields of science and education, ecology, energy, the development of transport and transit corridors.
