At Clashes On Haiti, 70 People Have Died Over Past Two Days

As a result of clashes between security forces and gang members in Haiti, 70 people have died over the past two days, there are many victims.

According to local media, members of the armed gang attacked the village of Pont-Solda in the Department of Artibonite, after which clashes with the police began.

According to the UN representative office in Haiti, the members of the Grand Griff gang burned 45 houses and 34 cars, and also forced the residents of the region to leave their homes.

Tamin al-Khitan, the official representative of the UN representative office at Haiti, said that members of the Grand Griff gang opened fire on people from automatic rifles. The UN representative also called to send reinforcement to the region.

According to the United Representative Office of the UN at Haiti (Binuh), since the beginning of 2024, 3900 people have died as a result of attacks by armed gangs, 1374 of this number – over the past 6 months.

Haiti has been fighting fundamental problems for many years, including the political and economic crisis, as well as security challenges. In addition, the country is threatened with hunger, since the population exceeds 11 million people.
