Having arrived at the place, the experts conducted an examination and found that a historical structure built using stone and vaulted arches is a caravanse of the Seljuki era consisting of three separate sections.

The director of the Adyyaman Museum Mehmet Alkan, in an interview with Anadol, said that after the information received, they arrived in the region and confirmed the presence of caravanserai.

According to him, the historical structure is located at the foot of Mount Nemrut.

“In this area there are walls from 17 to 21 meters long. The upper part of the structure is blocked by the arches, three vaulted sections are distinguished. With the exception of the southern part, the remaining fragments are preserved in good condition to the present day. The similarity also pays attention to the similarity With the caravanseam of Yer Khan, located between Malatia and Harput, although it is not known exactly who built this object, ”he said.

Alkan also spoke about the chronology of the structure.

“Based on the structural features and similarities with caravanseraci in Erzinjan and Malatier, this building dates from the XIII century of our era. That is, it was built about 750 years ago,” he said.

– Caravans-Saray is mentioned in the “Book of Travel” Evliya Cheleby

Alkan also noted that the caravanserai is mentioned in the famous work of Evliya Cheleby “Seyuhatname”.

“The area where the caravanse is located is resembles a town, and there is also a bridge here. The Seyahatanam is mentioned by the town of Surre. The region is described as a cozy village with clean water, fresh air, mosque, caravanserai and hammams. We We believe that we are talking about this area, ”the Alkan emphasized.
