The project of the new Constitution of Gabon approved 91.80 percent of citizens in a referendum. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Gabon Hermann Immongo.
A referendum in the African country took place on Saturday, November 16. The turnout amounted to 53.54 percent, only 8.20 percent of participating in the vote opposed the changes in the text of the Basic Law of the country, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The final voting results will be declared in the coming days the Constitutional Court.

The opposition in the country called on the public to oppose amendments on the grounds that the principle of separation of powers will be canceled in the new constitution and the president will concentrate all the powers in his hands.
