At Riga Airport, Three Aircraft Could Not Land Because Of Drone

Three aircraft that were supposed to land at Riga Airport on the evening of January 13, were redirected to other airports due to a drone found on the trajectory of planting the aircraft, reports Err.

Flight of the Air Baltic Latvian National Airline from Sofia and the flight of the Hungarian airline Wizz Air from Kutaisi were redirected from Riga Airport to Vilnius Airport, and the FINNAIR Flight of the Finnish National Airline returned to Helsinki.

According to the head of the operational situations department of the Civil Aviation Agency Ivis Vinchevs, in the evening of January 13, in the Riga Airport area, a drone was discovered on the trajectory of the aircraft, and due to a high level of security, the airport was closed for about 30 minutes .

Winchevs noted that at that time the airport was also closed for departures, in particular, the flight of the Turkish National Airline Thy in Istanbul was detained.

Representatives of the State Police of Latvia said that they received information about the facility noticed over the airport, similar to a drone. Law enforcement officers check the information.
