A shootout occurred on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, during which Tajik military applied mortars, 24.KG reports with reference to the border service of the State Committee of the National Security of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Kyrgyz authorities, the Tajik military illegally crossed the conventional line of the border and went to the territory of Kyrgyzstan. The border detachment found them in the area of the Bulak-Bashi area in the Batkensky district. According to the data, the requirements to leave the territory of the Tajik military ignored and opened fire, the border service said. A shootout ensued, during which they “used mortars.”
According to preliminary data, there are no wounded and injured from Kyrgyzstan. The parties held telephone negotiations, however, despite the agreements reached, the shootout continued, the authorities of the republic said, urging the “Tajik colleagues to immediately stop the warfare.” The authorities of Tajikistan have not yet commented on the incident.
The next exacerbation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border has been continuing since the end of January: then, during the shootout between the border guards, two were killed and six military from Tajikistan suffered, eight more military from Kyrgyzstan were injured.
