According to Sunday Mirror, the attacker was detained immediately after the security officers noticed it using external surveillance cameras. He did not have time to penetrate any buildings. Later, the police clarified that the uninvited guest probably suffers from a serious mental illness.
As wrote Mail on Sunday, a man used a rope staircase to climb through a metal fence. About where he tried to break into the territory and how far was from the Windsor Castle itself, not reported.
BBC reminds that in the past, attempts to penetrate the territory of British royal residences have been made many times. The most famous such incident occurred in 1982, when London unemployed named Michael Fagan managed to get into the bedroom of Elizabeth II in the Buckingham Palace. As a result, he spoke with Queen for ten minutes and even asked her cigarette. He did not have a weapon.
