The Ukrainian authorities have begun to develop a plan for the evacuation of the population of Kyiv in case of a complete disconnection of electricity in the city, the New York Times reported. It is assumed that in this case it will be necessary to take about 3 million people of Kiev.
As the director of the municipal security department of the Kyiv administration, Roman Tkachuk, explained, the option in which the capital of Ukraine will completely lose the power supply system is not excluded. If this becomes possible, Kyiv officials will be notified 12 hours before the failure of the system. After that, the authorities will begin to ask people to leave the city.
Earlier, the mayor Vitaly Klitschko said that Kyiv risks being left without light, water and heating. He also reported that 450 thousand apartments of the Kiev residents are left without light.
