Azal President Jahangir Askerov met today with the Vice-President for Sales and Marketing Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Russia and the CIS countries, who first visited Baku on a working visit. The meeting also attended the Sales Director of Boeing Volkan Ester.
As the Azal press service told Haqqin.az, a preliminary agreement was achieved at the meeting on the supply of new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft for Azerbaijan Airlines. The parties discussed the possibility of deliveries by Boeing Nine Wine-Best Dreamliner aircraft, which until the end of 2030 can replace the existing Boeing 757, Boeing 767 and Airbus A340, located in the Azal fleet.
After the relevant proposal is prepared, it will be submitted to the supervisory board of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC and Azerbaijani Investment Holding.
Currently, AZAL operates two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, well-proven at the far-haul directions.
It is worth noting that Azal became the first airline in the post-Soviet space, which began exploiting the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. Replenishment of the airline fleet such new aircraft will further expand the geography of the presence of “Azerbaijani Airlines” in the world.
During the meeting, the parties appreciated the partner and friendship between Azal and Boeing and expressed confidence in the further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Recall, on the eve at the meeting of J. Oskerov and the Regional Director for Sales in Eastern and Northern Europe Airbus Group Sergei Beshenbalo, a preliminary agreement was renewed about the upgrade of the existing airline fleet of Azerbaijan Airlines. Thus, by the Airbus Group at the specified airline period, up to 20 new generation aircraft Airbus A320NEO and Airbus A321NEO instead of the current Airbus A319 and Airbus A320 can be delivered.
