Azal President Jahangir Askerov met with the Regional Director for Sales in Eastern and Northern Europe Airbus Group Sergey Bestbaux. As the Azal press service told Haqqin.az, during the negotiations, the parties discussed many years of cooperation within bilateral initiatives and emphasized the successful experience of interaction between companies.
In particular, a preliminary agreement was reached to upgrade to 2030 of the existing airline airline fleet of Azerbaijan Airlines. Thus, by the Airbus Group at the specified airline period, up to 20 new generation aircraft Airbus A320NEO and Airbus A321NEO instead of the current Airbus A319 and Airbus A320 can be delivered.
Parties preliminarily agreed to prepare a proposal for the acquisition of these modern aircraft, which will subsequently be subsequently submitted to the Supervisory Board of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC and Azerbaijan Investment Holding.
At the meeting, there was also an exchange of views on the current situation of civil aviation and the impact of the Pandemic COVID-19 in the industry.
