Azeraeronavoda Air Motion Management (AZANS) As part of the restoration of air navigation infrastructure, the flight safety infrastructure introduces a new automated air traffic control system in the international airport of Azerbaijan in Zangilane, the press service of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC reports.
Successful testing of the readiness of this system took place on April 26, with the joint participation of representatives of the Azeraeronavigation Authority and the German DFS Aviation Services (DAS), which is responsible for managing air traffic on the territory of Germany. It is based on a modern automated Phoenix system developed by DAS specialists.
“Azerbaijani new international airports in the liberated territories of the country meet all modern security standards, have a developed infrastructure in accordance with high international requirements. The introduction of a new automated system at the airport in Zangilane will contribute to improving the safety of flights, as well as an increase in the bandwidth of airspace” , – President Azal Jahangir Askerger said.
“Cooperation between Azans and DFS Aviation Services as part of the introduction of the Phoenix software and hardware complex at the new international airports of Azerbaijan, is key to increasing the security level of flights,” said Das Managing Director Andreas Obuch.
The all technical and operating staff Azans passed the appropriate training conducted by German specialists.
This is the second automated Phoenix ATC system introduced for the operation of dispatch towers at the new airports in Azerbaijan. The first was introduced by the German aeronautical service at the International Airport in Fizuli in August 2021.
International Airport in Zangilane with a runway long-term 3000 meters long will be equipped with the latest navigation infrastructure that meets all international requirements and standards. Airport is supposed to be commissioned in 2022.
