34 years have passed since the bloody events of January 20, 1990 in Baku, which have become a symbol of the struggle for freedom and independence of Azerbaijan.
Entering in Baku on January 20, 1990 parts of the Soviet Army to suppress large -scale speeches of the masses, protesting against the aggressive actions of Armenia and its territorial claims against Azerbaijan, against the protection of the leadership of the former USSR, led to the tragedy.

Despite the fact that more than thirty years have passed since those bloody events, the Azerbaijani people have forever remembered that terrible night.

Every year on January 20, from the early morning, tens of thousands of people come to the Chekhids alley [the burial place of victims of events on January 20, 1990 and those who died in the Karabakh war.
