Azerbaijan And Armenia Agreed To Exclude Transport Lines From Terms Of Peace Agreement

Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to exclude an article on transport lines from a peace agreement, including a route connecting Nakhchivan with the main territory of the republic.

Azerbaijani representative, on special assignments, the ambassador Elchin Amirbekov, in an interview with the American broadcasting organization Radio Liberty, stated that the issue of transport lines, one of the controversial issues between the parties, was excluded from the draft text to accelerate the signing of a peace agreement.

Amirbekov noted that Azerbaijan and Armenia can continue negotiations on the search for an acceptable formula for providing a transport line between Azerbaijan and Nakhchyan after signing a peace agreement.

The press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Ani Badalyan also stated that the article on the opening of transport lines in the region was excluded from the text of the text by mutual agreement.

Badalyan noted that the effective opening of transport lines continues to be an important part of the vision and agenda of the world and the economic development of Armenia.

The issue of opening all transport routes in the region, including a route called Zangesur Corridor, which will connect Azerbaijan with Nakhchyan through Armenia, was one of the controversial issues between two countries in peace negotiations.

The official Baku states that the citizens of Azerbaijan and their goods following the Nakhchyan through Armenia should not be subject to any control, and the official Yerevan claims that the travel along the route must comply with the laws of Armenia.
