Azerbaijan and China discussed regional routes

A meeting was held in the online format between the delegation headed by China Li Xiaopen’s transport minister and a delegation led by the Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Rashad Nabiyev.

As reported by HaqQin.az in the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan, China Li Xiaopen Transport Minister invited Azerbaijani colleague to take part in the Second Global UN Conference on Sustainable Transport, which will be held in Beijing on October 14-16. Azerbaijani minister in turn thanked his Chinese colleague for the invitation and declared the readiness of his participation in the conference.

During the meeting, the current state of cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport and logistics was discussed, including the provision of Chinese support in the transit of Chinese goods through the territory of Azerbaijan. Mr. Lee Xiaopen noting the importance of the development of bilateral relations between our countries in the transport and logistics spheres, emphasized the special contribution of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and the Chairman of the People’s Republic of Jiang Zemin in the establishment of a high-level Azerbaijani-Chinese political dialogue. During the meeting of ministers, an agreement was reached that large Chinese transport companies will support the transit route passing through Azerbaijan.

There was also an exchange of views on the support of China in the matter of use of the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route under cargo transportation.

It was noted that Azerbaijan supports the Chinese initiative “one belt and one way”.

Along with this, an agreement was reached on improving the regulatory framework between the two countries. China’s Minister Li Xiaopen also pointed out the readiness of his country to provide support in the infrastructure development, transportation and logistics projects carried out in Azerbaijan.

In order to more efficient cooperation, the parties agreed to establish a working group on transport under the leadership of deputy ministers.
