a third (34 percent) of respondents around the world believe that the new one, 2023 will be worse than the past. A year ago, the share of pessimists was 28 percent.
Along with Azerbaijan and Kenia, the highest level of economic optimism includes Nigeria, Pakistan and Kazakhstan. In the USA and Russia, 47 percent of respondents expect a negative economic trend in the coming months.
In Europe, expectations for the next twelve months are especially negative in Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia, France and Italy. Austria is also not very optimistic in international comparison: 49% of pessimists are against only 18% of optimists (2021: 33% versus 27%). Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Great Britain are also pessimistic of their economic development.
