Azerbaijan and Lithuania expand relations in field of medicine

New prospects for Azerbaijani-Lithuanian cooperation in the field of health and medical science

The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan met with a three-day working visit in our country by the Vice-Minister of Health of Lithuania Aushro Bilotene Metheunen. The meeting was also attended by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania ambassador to our country Egidius Navikas.

During the conversation in the spirit of constructive dialogue and understanding, the parties discussed the current state of Azerbaijani-Lithuanian cooperation in the field of healthcare and medical science, and the potential opportunities for its development.

Having greeted the guests, the Minister of Health Teymur Musaev emphasized successful cooperation in many areas, including health and medical science. According to him, to increase the efficiency of the healthcare system of our countries, there are all the necessary tools for interaction in the field of medical education: “Moreover, there are optimal conditions for the exchange of modern methodological and scientific-practical information in the field of continuous professional education of medical specialists.”

In his speech, the minister also emphasized that there is great potential for the exchange of experience between national institutions of public health and expanding cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals: “We are attractive to Lithuania’s experience in the restructuring of the Institute of Public Health and in the field of improvement of rehabilitation services that meet European standards” .

Having expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, Aushra Bilotene-Moteinena noted that Lithuania is ready to contribute in every possible way to modernize the medical education system in Azerbaijan in accordance with the methodologies and standards recognized at the international level.

Lithuanian, vice-minister of healthcare, recalled that in May of this year, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Lithuanian University of Lithuania (LSMU) and Azerbaijani Medical University. “This document will contribute to the expansion of medical cooperation between our countries,” Aushra added Bilotene Metheunen.

The meeting also discussed the improvement of the process of training medical personnel, specific steps were proposed on the interaction of the parties.
