Azerbaijan And Serbia Are Developing Strategic Cooperation

September 2024, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jahun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marco Jurich, who is on an official visit to Baku.

The meeting between the parties in one -on format was continued with the participation of delegations of both parties.

At the meeting, ministers discussed political, economic, trade, investment, energy, transportation, humanitarian and other aspects of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Serbia, as well as regional and international issues.

Jayhun Bayramov said that the dynamism of high -level partners, political dialogue and inter -parliamentary ties play an important role in the development of strategic cooperation between countries. The importance of the creation of the Azerbaijani-Serbic Strategic Council of Cooperation was emphasized.

The ministers noted with satisfaction that in regional and international organizations Azerbaijan and Serbia demonstrate unique bilateral support.

“Friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia give impetus to the development of cooperation both at a bilateral level and in the international plane. Our states mutually support each other’s territorial integrity,” Bayramov noted.

According to him, in 2024, the military budget of Armenia increased by 50 percent, which poses a threat to stability in the region.

Bayramov noted that Armenia is made promises, incite her. “All these processes are under the control of our country,” added the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan.

The minister added that the annual volume of gas supplied to Serbia is planned to increase to a billion cubic meters. Bayramov noted that up to 400 million cubic meters of gas is delivered to Serbia annually. It is planned to increase this volume to 1 billion. This will ensure a third of the country’s needs in gas. 160 thousand tons of oil have already been delivered to Serbia.

“Azerbaijan can always trust Serbia. Our countries are reliable partners.”

The diplomat thanked Azerbaijan for the political support of his country. “We would like Azerbaijan to be presented as the main participant at the exhibition Expo -2028, which will be held in Serbia,” he added.

The Serbian Minister noted that the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan were democratically, fair and free.

He said that Serbia is ready to interact with the government and parliament of Azerbaijan.

Jurich emphasized that Serbia will actively participate in COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan.

The minister said that Serbia will fully support Azerbaijan in this event.

“Serbia will always support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. This is a fundamental question for us. We support each other according to the basic principles of international law,” summarized the head of the Serbia Foreign Ministry.
