Azerbaijan Announced On December 26 In Afternoon Of Mourning In Connection With Crash Of Azal Aircraft

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to announce on December 26 the day of mourning in connection with the death of people when the aircraft crash Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL).

“Guided by paragraph 32 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic and sharing the grief of the families of those who died as a result of a crash, I decide to announce on December 26, 2024 the day of mourning in the territory of the Azerbaijan Republic,” the president

said.

According to the press service, previously President Ilham Aliyev, who left for the Russian Federation to participate in the informal summit of the heads of the CIS member states in St. Petersburg, during his stay in the airspace of Russia was reported about the plane crash, and The head of state gave an order to immediately return.

Immediately after the landing of the aircraft at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the president held a meeting in connection with the incident.

Ilham Aliyev also signed an order to create the State Commission to investigate the reasons for the crash of the Embraer 190 aircraft, which executed the J2-8243 Baku-Groose flight and take the corresponding measures.

“Guided by paragraph 32 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic, I decide to investigate the causes of what happened and take appropriate measures,” follows from the text of the order.

In the morning, December 25, the Embraer aircraft 190 J2-824 number gave a emergency signal, being above the Caspian Sea. Information about this was received at 11.00 in the regional emergency. Later it became known about the emergency landing of the aircraft 3 kilometers from the city of Aktau.

According to Kazinform with reference to the Ministry of Emergencies of the Republic, 52 personnel and 11 units of equipment immediately arrived in Aktau at the place of crash of the aircraft. Upon arrival, burning aircraft was discovered. In total, 1150 personnel were involved, 45 units of equipment.

It is noted that there were 62 passengers and 5 crew members on board the aircraft. Azerbaijan Airlines has published a list of passengers of the J2-8243 Baku-Groze flight. It included 62 people. In turn, the Ministry of Emergencies of the republic reported that 69 people were on board the aircraft, of which 5 are the crew.

The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan reported that according to preliminary data, 37 citizens of Azerbaijan, 6 Kazakhstan, 3 Kyrgyzstan, 16 of the Russian Federation were aboard.

According to the latest data, with the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft, 32 people who are under treatment survived.
