In Azerbaijan on Saturday, June 15 celebrates the Day of National Salvation. Exactly 31 years ago, the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, returning to power, saved the Azerbaijani people and the state from the split.
In his speech at a meeting of the Milli Majlis on June 15, 1993, Heydar Aliyev announced a new strategy for the development of statehood of Azerbaijan.
This date went down in the history of Azerbaijan as a day of national salvation. On this day, at the request of the people, Heydar Aliyev returned to power for the second time and was elected chairman of the Supreme Council. Thus, the end of tension and confrontation in society was laid, the country was saved from the threat of a civil war and a split.
The statehood of Azerbaijan was saved from the threat, and socio-political stability was restored.
In 1997, deputies made a proposal to announce on June 15 the day of the national salvation of Azerbaijan, and the parliament approved this proposal. Since that time, the return of Heydar Aliyev to power has been celebrated as the day of national salvation.
Already not the first year of national salvation has been celebrated on the lands liberated from the Armenian occupation.
Thanks to the policy continued by President Ilham Aliyev, the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was restored.
