June 7 – World Food Safety Day. Today, the United Nations (UN) with its decree of December 20, 2018 found that food security is closely related to food safety, which is even more complicated by the production chain and food supply chain that any unpleasant food safety events, Have a negative impact on the health of people, trade and in general for the entire global economy.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 600 million people annually receive food poisoning as a result of eating products contaminated with various chemicals, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and toxins. As a result, a medical examination requires every 10 inhabitant of land. Unfortunately, the essence of food safety people understand only after they experienced small or large food poisoning. For this reason, more than 200 cases of infection with diseases, from gastrointestinal infections to cancer, occur when they do not feed safe food.
Food security agency in conjunction with the representation of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN in Azerbaijan implemented a number of educational and socially responsible events. Within the framework of the activities carried out to consumers and entrepreneurs, various messages were transferred to both through social networks and through the media and other means of communication. Printed materials on this topic are prepared and posted in more than 1,000 different entities of entrepreneurs acting throughout the food chain of the republic. The material covered the responsibilities and responsibilities of the parties involved in ensuring food safety. At the same time, the chairman of the apb Gosgar Tahmazli, who spoke with a video image on social networks, brought to attention the relevance of the topic and invited parties involved in ensuring food security, join the campaign. Representatives of the government and managers of various international organizations joined the call, stressing the importance of participation of each in the food security process.
World Food Safety Day is noted with the support of the Commission of the Alimentarius Code, the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN (FAO), the World Health Organization to draw attention to these hazards. This year, World Food Safety Day is carried out under the motto “Food Safety-Cases”, to attract the attention of the whole world to the topic of food safety.
