Azerbaijan filed a lawsuit against Armenia to the UN International Court of Justice for violating the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, reports the website of the International Court.
The lawsuit says that Armenia committed and continues to perform a series of discriminatory actions against Azerbaijanis on the basis of their national or ethnic origin: “both direct and indirect means of Armenia continues its ethnic cleansing policy and incites hatred and ethnic violence against Azerbaijanis Using the Language of Hate and spreading racist propaganda, including at the highest level of its government. During the fighting in the fall of 2020, the Azerbaijanis again became the object of ill-treatment of Armenia on the basis of ethnic hatred. Holding the policy of ethnic cleansing, cultural cleaning and inciting hatred for Azerbaijanis Armenia systematically violates the rights and freedoms of Azerbaijanis, as well as the rights of Azerbaijan to the detriment of the Convention. “
Azerbaijan statement, in particular, argues that Armenian policies and practice on anti-Azerbaijan discrimination have had both a goal and a consequence of infringement of human rights and fundamental freedoms of Azerbaijanis in violation of Articles 2, 3, 4. 5, 6 and 7 of the Convention.
Azerbaijan asks the court to attract Armenia to liability for violation of the Convention and reimburse the damage to Azerbaijan and its people.
