Azerbaijan Filed Lawsuit Against Armenia To Hague

The Azerbaijani government submitted to a permanent arbitration in the Hague the main law document against Armenia within the framework of the contract to the energy charter and in accordance with the basic principles of international law. This is stated in the press service of the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry.

According to the statement, the document reflects numerous violations by Armenia of the sovereign rights of Azerbaijan to energy resources.

The department noted that this law document is the last development under the international trial, which began on February 27, 2023, when Azerbaijan sent Armenia a notification of arbitration. The Arbitration Court was established on September 8, 2023 and the first procedural meeting between Azerbaijan and Armenia took place on January 12 this year.

“Armenia for about thirty years of the illegal occupation of the international recognized territories of Azerbaijan prevented Azerbaijan’s access to its energy resources or their development in these territories. On the contrary, Armenia used these resources in its interests,” the Foreign Ministry said in the Foreign Affairs.

The Azerbaijani foreign policy emphasized that Baku would continue the activities in the demand from Armenia for violation of sovereign rights to its energy resources, including for illegal operation and causing Armenia for damage to renewable energy sources in the territories released from the occupation.
