Azerbaijan expects to supply up to 1.5 million tons of wheat from Russia in 2022/2023 of the agricultural year (begins on July 1, 2022), the source in the Azerbaijani government told Interfax-Azerbaijan.
“Azerbaijan is interested in continuing the supply of wheat from the Russian Federation. This issue was discussed at a meeting of the Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental commission at the end of April to Baku. In particular, the Azerbaijani side counts on deliveries from the Russian Federation in 2022/2023 of the agricultural season up to 1.5 million tons of wheat, ”said the interlocutor of the agency.
According to him, there is an understanding with the Russian side in this matter. “The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, together with interested Russian departments, was entrusted with assisting the Azerbaijani side in the organization of wheat supply in the upcoming agricultural season in the required volume,” he said.
As previously reported, the import of wheat to Azerbaijan in the I-th quarter of 2022 amounted to 182.864 thousand tons, which is 2.7% less than the indicator a year earlier. According to statistics, the total value of the wheat imported to the Republic of wheat amounted to $ 62 million 391.3 thousand (growth of 30.7%).
