According to the rules of the World Animal Health Organization (OIE), each country should have the status free from a number of animal diseases to sell live animals and animal products through an international trading network. Such diseases include the plague of cattle. The OIE initiated the process to liberate all member countries from this disease until 2030. 59 countries have already received the status of free from this disease, the Food Security Agency statement says.
The statement notes that obtaining the status of a country free of disease will allow export of cattle and related products, eliminate barriers to transit live animals and create new opportunities for interstate cooperation.
To obtain this status, it is necessary to make a package of documents on the counter-episotic activities of special purpose and submit them to the OIE in the third quarter of 2022.
To assess the work done and providing support in the preparation of the specified package of documents in Azerbaijan at the moment, experts of the General Staff of FAO, Dr. Susanna Münstermann and Dr. Camilla Benfield. Obtaining this status will allow you to obtain important advantages as a country exporter and transiter. Azerbaijan will become the first country that received this status in the region.
