On Thursday, the international bike race “Dear Shusha”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, launched on Thursday.
The Ceremony was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Farid Gaibov, President of the Bicycle Federation of Madat Guliev, Vice President of the Federation and athletes.
In the tournament that will be held in the format of group highways, more than 100 athletes consisting of 18 teams from 16 countries of the world will compete for medals.
The five -stage competition of category 2.2, included in the calendar plan of the International Cyclists Union (UCI) for 2023, starts on June 7 in a bicycle park located in Baku. At the first stage, cyclists will overcome 150 kilometers and cross the finish line in the Shamakhinsky district.
On June 8, athletes will pass 176.2 kilometers along the route of Gabal – Sheki – Gabala, the next day – 170 kilometers from Gabala to the Center of Ganja, June 10 – 102.9 kilometers to the Gohelel National Park (first making a circle along a specific route in Ganja), and June 11 – 134.9 kilometers from Bailyagan to Shushi.
According to the results of a prestigious competition, cyclists will be able to earn licensed points for the Paris – 2024 Olympic Games.
