In Azerbaijan, the use of basements of residential buildings for residence is prohibited. This was reflected in the “residential buildings design standards”, approved by the decision of the State Committee on urban planning and architecture.
According to the standards, it is not allowed to accommodate residential premises (rooms, living rooms and bedrooms) on the ground floors and basements of buildings.
The size of residential rooms and other apartments are determined depending on the placement of the necessary equipment and furniture installed in accordance with the requirements of ergonomics.
