Azerbaijan Prime Minister told trade and economic sphere priority area of interaction

In Minsk, a meeting of the Eurasian intergovernmental council was held in an extended composition.

The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov took part in the meeting as a guest.

Assadov at the meeting noted that Azerbaijan maintains close ties in bilateral format with partners in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

“Aarly and intensive political dialogue at the highest level serves as a vivid evidence of this. Since the beginning of this year, Azerbaijan has been visited with state visits by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus, and the president of Azerbaijan visited Russia with a working visit,” said the Prime Minister

He emphasized that a very solid bilateral legal framework has been developed from each of Azerbaijan, which ensures the progressive development of relationships over the entire spectrum of mutually beneficial cooperation.

The head of government called the trade and economic sphere a priority area of ​​interaction.

According to him, that according to the results of 2023, the turnover of Azerbaijan with partners in the EAEU increased by almost 9 percent.

Assadov emphasized that in pursuance of instructions of the heads of state through the government in bilateral format, various options for the realization of the not yet used potential of trade and economic cooperation are being worked out.

He also pointed out good dynamics of investment interaction. The Prime Minister noted that on the agenda a number of new bilateral investment projects focused on the long term.

Touching upon cooperation in the transport and transit sphere, Assadov emphasized that the efforts of Azerbaijan are today aimed at strengthening the country’s transit potential and increasing the freight traffic along international corridors passing through its territory.

The head of government emphasized the relevance of cooperation in the field of green energy and the fight against the consequences of climate change. The Prime Minister informed the meeting participants about the projects successfully implemented by Azerbaijan in the field of renewable energy resources.

He noted that Azerbaijan also collaborates with the Partners in the EAEU in the framework of regional and international organizations.

“I consider it appropriate to celebrate the site of the Commonwealth of Independent States, where our countries, being its members, effectively interact in a wide range of directions,” Assadov added.
