Armenia still has not returned 8 Azerbaijani villages under occupation.
This is stated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan on the occasion of November 8 – Victory Day.
The foreign policy reminded that on November 8, 2020, the historical Azerbaijani city was released from the occupation – Shusha.
“, in accordance with the tripartite statement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia on November 10 of the same year, the Armenian armed forces were withdrawn from the Kyalbadzharsky, Agdam and Lachinsky districts, thereby ensured the territorial integrity of our country,” the department noted .
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that immediately after the conflict, Azerbaijan made peaceful initiatives and fulfilled its obligations.
“The Azerbaijani side advocated the normalization of relations between the two countries and the activation of the peace process, began large -scale restoration and construction work in the liberated territories, and also took measures to reintegrate the Armenian residents of the Karabakh region in our society,” the ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry statement says that Armenia, in turn, despite the efforts of the Azerbaijani side, chose the path of obstruction of negotiations on a peace agreement.
“Armenia continued to make military-political provocations and maintain a mine threat in the region, thereby preventing the peaceful process, restoration work, and created a threat to the life of Azerbaijani citizens. Contrary to its obligations, the Armenian side not only did not withdraw the Armenian armed forces from the territories of Azerbaijan, who were the main source of threat to peace and security in the region, but also continued to provide them with material and financial support, carried out illegal transfer of weapons, military equipment and mines in the territory of Azerbaijan. In addition, Armenia still did not return 8 Azerbaijani villages under occupation ” , – says in the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.
