Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the city of Shusha, released during the Second Karabakh war of 2020, was never native to the Armenian population.
Azerbaijani leader spoke at the fourth international conference on the topic “Formation of the geopolitics of Big Eurasia: from the past to the present and the future”, which takes place in Shush and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev.
According to the president, Shusha was under foreign dominance only during the period of the occupation by Armenia, which lasted more than 28 years.
The head of state said that the conference participants after the event will get acquainted with the city of Shusha. “After our meeting, you will make a tour of the city and see that during the period of the occupation of Shusha it was almost completely destroyed. It once again shows that Shusha was never a hometown of the Armenians,” he said.
The President of Azerbaijan further stated that the official Baku does not intend to ignore the situation in the region.
