Work conducted on the development of a veterinary system in Azerbaijan has been highly appreciated by the World Features Organization Organization (MAB).
Note that the veterinary system in 182 countries of the organization is evaluated on the basis of special criteria. These criteria consist of 45 points, which include various aspects of biosorous, health of people and animals. They are evaluated by a five -point system. Assessments “4” and “5” indicate that the veterinary system is built in accordance with international standards.
, at the invitation of the food security agency on May 9-20, 2022, an event “Evaluation of a veterinary system using the PVS tool” was held in Azerbaijan. According to the results of the event, MAB experts prepared a report.
According to the expert group, compared with the last evaluative period conducted in 2015, significant progress has been reached in the modernization of the country’s veterinary system. Surgery such as international accreditation of veterinary laboratories in important areas and the functioning of the quality control mechanism, preparation and implementation of special programs for the elimination of animal diseases, establishing mutual business relations with various business entities participating in the livestock supply and expansion of international cooperation were highly assessed. .
At the same time, it was noted that it is necessary to pay more attention to the use of antimicrobial drugs in veterinary medicine and monitoring the number of residual amounts in animal products, as well as develop special procedures in this area. Another important issue is control of animal feed. This issue was reflected in the law “On food safety”, which entered into force this year.
Another problem marked by the assessment group is that the system of identification and registration of animals does not fully cover the country. Important steps have also been taken in this direction. The identification of cattle and horses is completed in Baku, Sumgayyt and the Absheron district. The process continues throughout the country.
