In 2020 full of trials and challenges, the leading mobile operator supported the country in all areas
A year ago, Azercell Telecom made a promise to its customers to make the digital future accessible and to respond more quickly to the demands of the dynamically developing world. This promise has no doubt fully justified itself against the backdrop of the transformation of world society in 2020. Azercell’s digitalization strategy, which harmoniously adapts to a new lifestyle and work in conditions of tough isolation, has offered people of all ages a convenient and fast way to work and communicate in the fields of education, entertainment and business. As a leading mobile operator, Azercell strives to make the daily life of its users more comfortable through innovative services and technological solutions. All this was marked by the fact that the number of the company’s subscribers in 2020 exceeded 5 million.
Azercell Telecom, having achieved significant achievements, managed to complete 2020 without losses, which became a difficult test period for both the country and the world economy. The largest taxpayer of the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan, whose share in the country’s mobile communications market in 2020 was 49%, last year paid 111.9 million manats to the state budget, and over the past 24 years this amount amounted to a total of about 2 billion manats, including taxes … The mobile operator invested USD 58 million in the development of the telecommunications sector in Azerbaijan in 2020, and in the period from 1996 to 2020, this amount amounted to USD 1.7 billion.
