After the head of the Center for Public Relations and the Media of Azerenerzhi OJSC Teimur Abdullaev also told reporters about the danger to the Schimal power plant as a result of a sharp drop in water level in the Caspian Sea. He said that to exclude risks, it is planned to build a 540-meter overpass and 2 water plants that allow you to pump cold water from the Caspian Sea from a depth of 8 meters.
“The drop in the water level in the Caspian Sea by almost 2 meters over the past 20 years has created a strong threat to the work of hydroelectric power plants,
“Shimal”, which is the 2nd largest power plant in the country, and provides electricity with more than 40 percent of the territory of the city of Baku. A decrease in sea level has created a serious problem in bringing cooling water to the station. This could lead to a stop of the operation of the SHIMAL-1 and Shimal-2 power plants, which have a total capacity of 800 megavatts, ”he said.
Abdullaev also said that 4 pipes will be laid on both sides of the new flyover. At 2 pumping stations 8 pumps will work.
