Baku, Astana and Ankara signed roadmap on midnight corridor

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jahun Bayramov took part in a tripartite meeting of foreign ministers and transport of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey in the city of Aktau. The meeting was also attended by a delegation of Georgia. This is stated in the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.

According to information, the main issue of the agenda of the meeting organized in the continuation of the first tripartite meeting of foreign ministers and transport of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey (June 2022, Baku) was to discuss the work done in order to use the potential of the region in the field of transport and communications , transit and other areas, further expansion of partnership. During the discussions, attention was paid to the development of the Trans -Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), cargo transportation in this direction.

Having performed at the meeting, Jahun Bayramov emphasized that this format is one of the important platforms for further expansion of partnership between the three countries. It was noted that in the context of the growing threats of global security, stability and economic development, the strengthening of cooperation in the field of transport and communications is currently of great importance in terms of preventing and reducing risks and challenges at the regional level. The significance and prospects of the Zangezur corridor as part of the median corridor were also emphasized. It was noted that this corridor has the potential for further increase in transport capabilities within the framework of the Trans -Caspian route. The discovery of all communications in the region, including the Zangezur corridor, will serve as the expansion of international transport relations.

Jayhun Bayramov noted that the termination of the conflict creates new opportunities to achieve long -term peace and stability in the region by restoring economic and communication ties. He spoke about large -scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories, about efforts to ensure the return of former forced immigrants to their lands.

It was noted that one of the big obstacles to recovery and construction activities conducted by Azerbaijan is a mine threat, in particular it is emphasized that the Armenian side and in the post -conflict period set mines in Azerbaijan.

Following the results of a tripartite meeting in accordance with the Baku Declaration, a roadmap was signed on 2022-2027 on the development and operation of the route of the Middle Corridor passing through the territory of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
