“Over the past five years, changes in 236 streets and prospects have been proposed, new projects have been implemented. This is a large number, because the change in the geometric shape of each road directly affects both traffic and pedestrian safety.” This was stated by Chairman of the Board of the Baku Transport Agency (BTA) Vusal Kerimley on the VI World Traffic Safety Event.
According to him, measures to develop urban mobility, including the expansion of pedestrian zones and the creation of more comfortable and safe opportunities for movement of pedestrians, taking into account the development of alternative modes of transport – one of the main strategic goals.
“In this regard, a draft strategy for the development of mobility in Baku was prepared to 2030, the goals, principles and strategic tasks were identified,” he said.
