The Bayraktar TB2 Turkish shock drone, fully developed and produced by Baykar, successfully completed the second test flight with a new TM100 of domestic production engine.
According to Baykar, the flight was made with the TM100 engine developed by the company itself.
Baykar CEO Haluk Bayractar, commenting on the event on the social network X, noted that the Bayraktar TB2 is a tactical drone that occupies a leading position in the world in the number of orders and is mass -produced on a record scale in its class.
Bayractar emphasized that the Bayraktar TB2 is a completely national development – from the glider to electron -acuational systems, from the flight computer to software. The TM100 installed on it is a piston engine of internal combustion.
“At one time, the campaigns were carried out with the thesis” good, but the engine is not domestic. “However, for the UAV this class, the engine was not a critically important element that determines the success of the tasks. Therefore, we focused on more strategically significant directions,” said the head of Baykar.

Haluk Bayractar admitted that earlier the creation of its own engine was not a priority due to small production volumes and economic inappropriateness. However, as export supplies and combat use of Bayraktar TB2 grow in real conditions, the need for a localized and more powerful motor has become obvious, including from the point of view of the stability of the supply chains.
“Bayraktar TB2 became not only the most produced, but also the most exported UAVs in his class. He repeatedly proved his effectiveness in combat conditions and turned into a symbol at a global level,” he said.
According to him, after that Baykar began to develop its own engine. The project was implemented completely at the expense of the company’s own resources, with the participation of 40 domestic enterprises – members of the defense -industrial cluster Saha Istanbul, under the leadership of the team of engineers Baykar Motor Geliştirme.
According to Bayractar, the TM100 engine is equipped with triple reservation of the control unit, modular power units and a system of advanced heat management. All flight tests were successfully completed, he added.
