Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jaykhun Bayramov met with the special representative of the Russian Foreign Minister to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia Igor Khovaev.
This is stated in the message of the press service of the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current situation in the process of normalizing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, negotiations on a peace agreement, as well as the situation in connection with the protest on the Lachinsky road.
Bayramov noted that, despite the constructive approaches shown by Azerbaijan both during the occupation of its territories and in the post-conflict period, and the nomination of proposals for the peaceful process after a 44-day war, Armenia constantly impedes this process.
The minister recalled that Armenia was boycotting the next round of negotiations on a peace agreement outlined for December.
It was also emphasized that the Road of Lachin – Hankendi is not used for the purposes that are provided for by the trilateral declaration.
The minister drew the attention of the special representative of the Russian Foreign Minister of Russia to the fact that the legal requirements of protesters have not yet been fulfilled and the Armenian side, using this situation for their political purposes, is trying to direct it into the false direction.
The meeting also discussed regional security and other issues representing mutual interest.
