Bayramov on normalization of relations with Yerevan, about peacekeepers

Baku is ready for the normalization of relations with Armenia on the basis of respect for the principle of territorial integrity and irregularities of borders, as well as to the opening of all communications in the South Caucasus, said the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov at a meeting of the Council of the CIS Foreign Minister in Minsk.

“Azerbaijan is ready for the normalization of relations with Armenia on the basis of respect for the principles of international law, in particular the sovereignty, territorial integrity and irrevomination of borders,” said Bayramov, whose words leads the press service of the Foreign Ministry.

The minister stressed that Azerbaijan calls upon Armenia to begin the process of delimitation and demarcation of borders in compliance with these principles.

Bayramov also reported that Azerbaijan was committed to fulfilling obligations arising from tripartite statements, including agreements on the opening of all communications in the region, expressing confidence that the opening of communications would benefit all countries in the region and strengthen the role of the South Caucasus in international transport projects.

The diplomat stressed that the Azerbaijani side attaches great importance to peacekeeping efforts in the region, including the activities of the Joint Turkish-Russian Monitoring Center.

Meeting participants were also informed about the destruction of historical, religious and cultural heritage in the Azerbaijani territories as a result of the occupation policy of Armenia.

The Minister of Bayramov stressed that the conflict remained in the past, and now the main goal is to restore the liberated territories and ensure the return of former displaced land for native land. In this regard, the Minister informed the participants in the meeting on the restoration work on the liberated territories.
