The rapid weapons of Armenia and its revanchist aspirations remain the greatest obstacles to the peace process. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jahun Bayramov at a briefing in Astana following negotiations with the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu.
Bayramov emphasized that despite significant progress in the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, territorial claims to Azerbaijan are still enshrined in the Armenia Constitution, which also remains a serious obstacle to the conclusion of a peace agreement.
The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for providing a site for negotiations between the two countries in May 2024, noting that this indicates the importance that Kazakhstan gives the peace process.
He also emphasized the importance of Kazakhstan’s participation in the restoration of the liberated territories, in particular, the construction of the Kurmangazy Children’s Creativity Center in Fizuli.
Bayramov also grew gratitude to the government of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh people for high efficiency in conducting search and rescue operations and for direct support in all matters immediately after the collapse of our passenger aircraft Azerbaijani Airlines (AZAL) of the Baku-Groze flight near the city of Aktau on December 25 last year.
“Historically formed between the Azerbaijani and Kazakh peoples, the community of traditions and customs, culture and language, open and sincere ties based on mutual respect and trust between the heads of our states form the basis of relations between the two countries,” said the Minister.
