Today, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jahun Bayramov and his Russian colleague Sergei Lavrov, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
During a telephone conversation, current issues were discussed on the agenda of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, including the current situation around the Lachinsky road.
Bayramov emphasized that the protests of Azerbaijani citizens against illegal economic activity in the territories of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily deployed, as well as against the exploitation of natural resources and abuse of the Lachinsky road, is the legitimate right of citizens of Azerbaijan. He emphasized the need to fulfill the justified requirements of the protesters.
Bayramov noted the unreasonableness of statements about the alleged closure of the Lachinsky road by Azerbaijan, the blockade of the Armenian residents living in the Azerbaijani territories, the emergence of the situation of the humanitarian crisis. In particular, it was emphasized that daily travel along the Lachin road dozens of vehicles, cars of the peacekeeping contingent, the International Committee of the Red Cross, Armenian ambulance machines refutes unreasonable claims of the Armenian side.
At the same time, the Foreign Minister emphasized, it is unacceptable that persons who represent themselves with the “representatives” of Armenians living in the Azerbaijani territories prevent the use of the road by the population, thereby creating the impression of an artificial “blockade”, “humanitarian crisis”.
During a telephone conversation, an exchange of views took place on other issues representing mutual interest.
