Beach of Testuz is one of important places for reproduction of Karetta sea turtles

The cubs of sea turtles Karetta (Loggerhead), who completed the incubation period on the beach out of tatuz in Mugl, go to sea.

On the beach of the Testuz, which is one of the most protected beaches in the world and one of the important places for reproduction of the Karetta Turtle in the Dalyan area (Ortaja district), where tourists rest during the day, disappearing types of skirts appear at night.

Sand beach with a length of 6 km is available for local and foreign tourists from 08.00 to 20.00. After 20.00, the beach goes into use of turtles.

as part of the project, carried out by the Main Directorate for the Protection of the Natural Resources of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Changes, employees of the Center for Rehabilitation and Care for Sea Turtles (Dekamer) work on the beach from the period of hatching and before the turtles in the sea.

The turtles that have completed the incubation period and freed from the shells rise to the surface, digging the sand. Having left the nest, which are usually located at a distance of 5 to 50 m from the sea, the cubs rush to the water, where they live, despite the risk of being eaten foxes, crabs or predatory birds.

So far, the Karetta’s kids who have passed the hatching period go to the sea, students working in Dekamer help unsuccessfully hatched babies.
