China introduced additional duties on a number of agricultural and food products imported from the United States, and also announced sanctions against American companies in response to US President Donald Trump to increase the tariff for the entire Chinese imports to 20 percent.
The Ministry of Trade of the PRC specified that the import of poultry, barley, corn and cotton from the United States will be introduced an additional customs duty of 15 percent, and for the import of soy, pork, beef, fruits, vegetables and dairy products – 10 percent.
The department emphasized that the United States decision on the introduction of tariffs violates the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO). “China will protect its legal rights and interests in accordance with the Rules of the WTO, and will also continue to defend a multilateral trading system and international economic order,” follows from the text. New customs tariffs will come into force on March 10.
The Ministry also announced the introduction of 15 American companies, including defense and security enterprises, in the “List of Export Control”. Chinese companies will need a special permit for the export of military and civilians of dual -use to these organizations.
In addition, 10 American companies were included in the “list of unreliable organizations” for participating in the sale of weapons and military cooperation with Taiwan, according to which China has disputes about sovereignty. These companies are forbidden to invest in China and carry out any commercial activities with Chinese enterprises. Beijing also introduced the ban on the import of equipment of the American company Illumina.
