Beijing Expressed Support For Negotiations Between United States And Russian Federation To Resolve Ukrainian Conflict

China supports US negotiations announced by the United States and Russia.

This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC GO Jiakun at a briefing in Beijing, in response to an anadola’s request to comment on the decision of Moscow and Washington to start negotiations in order to assist the conflict in Ukraine.

“Russia and the United States are influential world powers. China is glad to see that both countries strengthen communications and deepen the dialogue on important international issues,” the diplomat noted.

Beijing is convinced that dialogue is the only way to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, said go Jiakun.

“China supports every effort that will contribute to the peaceful settlement of the crisis. They are ready to play a constructive role in contact with all parties for a political decision,” said the diplomat.

The Chairman of the PRC Xi Jinping suggested starting peace negotiations on the second day of the conflict, the representative of the diplomatic mission recalled.

China will continue to maintain efforts to find a political solution of the crisis and play a constructive role in a direct dialogue between the parties, said the official representative of the PRC Foreign Ministry.

The diplomat also commented on the statement of the US Minister of Defense, Pete Hegset that the return of Ukraine to the borders of 2014, as well as the return of Crimea annexed by Russia, is “seen unrealistic.”

“In the current circumstances, all parties must remain calm and restrained. Avoid actions that will aggravate and complicate the crisis. We urge the interested parties to continue dialogue and consultations and find a solution that will provide a strong world by building a balanced and stable architecture of European security” – added a diplomat.

US President Donald Trump, following a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the day before, said that Washington and Moscow agreed to start negotiations on the termination of the conflict in Ukraine.
