Belarusian authorities recognized the local service “Radio Liberty” extremist, began a criminal investigation into one of the journalists and arrested another on Thursday. This was announced by the Belarusian branch “Radio Liberty”, reports UNN.
This is the last step of the Belarusian dictatorship in a multi-month multilateral suppression of independent media of the country.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus made a publication known in the country as “Radiy Swaboda” (“Radio Liberty”), and his journalists in the Government register of “extremist organizations”. Earlier this month, the court of the Belarusian capital – Minsk recognized the “Extremist” pages in social networks “Radio Liberty”.
Journalists and public representatives of Belarus may threate up to seven years in prison for the distribution of content created by the “extremist” media.
Also on Thursday, the authorities opened a criminal case against the 43-year-old journalist of the edition of Andrei Kuznechik, his relatives reported.
