Belgium Froze Russian Assets Of € 258 Billion

Belgium froze Russian assets with a volume of more than 250 billion euros in the framework of sanctions imposed on the background of the Russian-Ukrainian war. This is stated in the message of the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance of Belgium.

According to data, the total volume of frozen and immobilized assets in Belgium is 258 billion euros. Of these, 65 billion euros are frozen assets, and 193 billion euros are immobilized operations of the Bank of Russia.

Belgium, which is based on EuroClear, providing financial services and specializing in calculations on transactions with securities, storing and servicing these securities, is the EU country with the largest volume of frozen Russian assets. Most of the funds frozen in the EU are in the Belgian depository EuroClear.
