Belgium was the first in the world to introduce a mandatory 21-day quarantine for those who fell ill with monkey smallpox, according to the newspaper La Libre Belgique on Sunday.
The decision was made following a meeting of the Belgian risk assessment group after three cases of disease were discovered in the country.
The publication recalled that among the symptoms of infection, the rash on the face and body, as well as symptoms similar to the signs of influenza disease, namely cough, fever, headache, inflammation of the lymph nodes.
