The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed with the head of LUKOIL, Vagita Alekperov, the implementation of projects in the Caspian Sea. This was reported on the night on Wednesday Turkmen State News Agency TDH.
According to his information, the meeting discussed the “mastering of hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian region”. It is reported that Alekperov informed Berdymuhamedov on the activities of LUKOIL in Turkmenistan, including the progress of projects in the Caspian Water area, and also confirmed the interest in further cooperation and “the intention of Russian partners to take an active part in large-scale industry programs implementing in Turkmenistan.”
At the same time, according to TDH, the head of LUKOIL assured the Turkmen leader that “the company headed by him will continue to approach the fulfillment of obligations assumed.”
In turn, Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan is always open to productive cooperation in the field of fuel and energy complex, “where there is a huge resource and economic potential.”
In February, TDH reported that LUKOIL can take part in the development of the “Druzhba” deposit in the Caspian Sea. On January 21, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan signed an intergovernmental memorandum on the joint intelligence and the development of this field. The field was opened in 1986 by Azerbaijani geologists. According to the estimates, its reserves can be about 50 million tons of oil.
