US President Joe Biden announced the decision to introduce more than 500 new sanctions against Russia in connection with the death of Russian opposition Alexei Navalny in prison.
According to the statement published on the official website of the White House, Biden announced new sanctions against Moscow in the message, which he announced on the eve of the second anniversary of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The US President said that in connection with the death of Navalny and the second anniversary of the Russian-Ukrainian war, more than 500 new sanctions will be imposed against Russia.
Having emphasized that the sanctions will affect the financial and defense sectors of Russia, as well as the people “related to the conclusion of Navalny,” Biden said: “(sanctions) will force Putin to pay an even more difficult price for his aggression and repression within the country.”
In addition to sanctions, Biden noted that the new export restrictions were introduced against about 100 organizations on the grounds that they indirectly support Russia.
