US President Joe Biden announced the evacuation of American personnel from Sudan against the backdrop of armed clashes between the army and a quick response in the African country.
The head of the White House sent a notifying letter to the head of the Senate Kamale Harris and the Chairman of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy. “By my order, the US Armed Forces conducted an operation to evacuate American personnel and other persons from Hartum in response to a deterioration in security situation in Sudan,” the letter said.
To conduct an operation in Djibuti, Ethiopia and Sudan, the personnel of the US armed forces with appropriate combat equipment was deployed, the president noted.
In order to protect the person of the United States and other persons, the US military will continue to fulfill their duties in Djibuti until the situation requires this, Biden emphasized.
The President noted that he ordered the operation as commander in chief of the American army and the head of the executive branch of power, and proceeded from his constitutional duties.
