Blinken Discussed With European Colleagues Situation In Syria, Lebanon And Gaza

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held a meeting with a number of European ministers and diplomats, during which the latest events in Syria, the cessation of clashes in Lebanon and the end of the war in Gaza.

According to the US State Department, the meeting took place in Rome, the capital of Italy, with the participation of countries known as the Transatlantic Five.

The negotiations were attended by the head of the Italian Foreign Ministry Antonio Tayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain David Lammi, the Supreme EU EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of Kai Callas, as well as representatives of Germany and France.

The meeting discussed the transition period in Syria, issues of stability in the region, as well as the current situation in Lebanon and Gaza. Participants noted the need to take measures so that Syria does not pose a threat to their neighbors.

It was emphasized that in Syria it is important to protect the rights of civilians, to observe human rights and international humanitarian law.

In addition, the participants agreed on the need to stop conflicts in Lebanon and ensure a stable truce. Special attention was paid to the end of the war in gas, the liberation of all hostages and an increase in humanitarian assistance.

“Transatlantic five” includes the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany and Italy and is a mechanism of Western cooperation.
